30+ years in the international sugar industry. Former Managing Director of BMA Group. Now focused on building Sucrosphere's global reach.
Pfeifer & Langen IP GmbH is expanding its management team. Dr. Arend Wittenberg joined on July 1, bringing with him a career built across some of the largest and most modern organisations in the global sugar industry.
Sucrosphere is moving beyond Europe and needs someone who already has the relationships in those markets.
Who Is Dr. Arend Wittenberg?
Arend spent more than 30 years working across the international sugar production and plant engineering sectors. He held senior leadership positions at Cosun and Nordzucker, 2 of the largest and most modern beet sugar producers in Europe, before serving as Managing Director of the BMA Group, one of the main suppliers of process technology and equipment to the global sugar industry.
That combination of producer-side and technology-side experience is specific. Most people in the industry know one or the other. Arend has worked both sides of the table, which matters when the conversation is about deploying new technology inside operating factories.
What He Will Focus On at Sucrosphere
In his new role, Arend will focus on 3 areas:
| International expansion | Growing Sucrosphere's reach into new geographies and factory types beyond the European beet sugar base. |
| Customer relationships | Acquiring and supporting customers who are evaluating or deploying digital solutions in their factories. |
| Strategic partnerships | Developing the industry relationships that allow Sucrosphere to work more closely with factories, associations, and technology partners globally. |
Why This Appointment Now
Sucrosphere has been building deployments across European beet sugar factories for several years. The platform is running across multiple factories in multiple countries, with results that justify expanding further.
The demand for digital, connected, and data-driven solutions in the sugar industry is growing. Beet, cane, and refinery producers are facing the same set of pressures: energy costs, operator shortages, and the need to improve yield without disrupting campaigns. Sucrosphere's answer to those pressures is proven in deployment, but reaching more of the industry requires someone who already has the relationships and the credibility to open those doors.
If you are evaluating digital solutions for your factory, or want to understand what Sucrosphere's platform could look like in your process, Arend and the team are the right starting point.
